The following 53 organizations comprise the California Green Stimulus Coalition:

(this list last modified October 1, 2009)

The California Green Stimulus Coalition is an alliance of dozens of California’s most influential and respected organizations advocating for the environment, economic justice, organized labor and a strong workforce system.

As California decides how to use its federal stimulus dollars, we are advocating for investments that advance California’s long term environmental goals; create high quality jobs and lead to high road economic development; and provide for truly shared prosperity instead of reinforcing or deepening social and economic disparities.

This coalition is focused on state-level decision-makers, including the state legislature and state agencies implementing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (such as the California Energy Commission, Community Services and Development Agency, etc). We are not engaged with local or regional decision-makers, leaving that to other efforts and allies.

Stimulus = Gold Rush?

With billions of dollars headed for the Golden State, a large number of people and institutions will be vying for funds. We are developing specific, best practices standards, criteria and principles to ensure funds go to the most effective projects.

Sunshine on the Process

California needs an inclusive and transparent process that empowers the public to participate, and that allows everyone to understand where funds are going and why. Our coalition is calling for public hearings and an open process so that state and regional officials uphold the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
